24-Hour NurseLine

  • Get the right care

Should I call a nurse, get urgent care or go to the ER?

Sometimes it's hard to know which to choose. But there's a big difference in time and money.

    Not sure what to do?

LifeWise's 24-Hour NurseLine can provide advice when your regular doctor's office is closed or if you are not sure what to do.

Call our FREE and PRIVATE 24-Hour NurseLine and talk to a nurse. The nurse will ask the right questions and listen to your concerns. He or she will help you choose where and when to get treatment. The NurseLine phone number is on the back of your ID card.

Note: if there's no NurseLine number on your card, your plan may not include the NurseLine service.

  • If it's NOT life threatening

Sometimes a condition isn’t life-threatening but it can’t really wait until the next day either. Urgent care facilities offer quick, convenient care for those times. They are open outside of regular business hours, and they charge less than emergency rooms.

To find the nearest urgent care facility, search our "Find a Doctor" directory. Choose “Urgent/Walk-in Care.”

Examples of things that an urgent care facility can handle:

    • Ear infections
    • Low fever or mild flu symptoms
    • Minor rashes, cuts, bites and sprains
  • If it IS life threatening

Call 911 or go to the emergency room if you are in severe pain or your life is in danger.

To find the nearest ER, search our provider directory.

    Examples of healthcare emergencies:

    • Possible heart attacks
    • Strokes
    • Broken bones
